Because it’s not very pretty. Obviously, I finished my dress. I could zip it up, but is very tight around my giant trunk. I’m blaming it on Benjamin Franklin! He’s the one who had to pen my mantra: “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” If that’s the case then I must be really, really happy and extra loved by God! The funny thing is, up to two years ago I didn’t even like beer. Then I tried Miller Genuine Draft and found out that I love beer after all! Good thing I didn’t discover that any earlier in my life or I’d be on the Maury Povitch show by now! (Actually, even when I’m slender, I don’t have much of a waist.)
Anyway…the dress is cute and the sleeves have a much nicer flair to them then how it looks in my photo. Also, I think if I had picked a mocha brown fabric for the trim, I’d be happier. The black seemed right, but I see now that I should have stood back from my fabric selections when I was picking them out. Well, live and learn. I have to say that as far as workmanship, this is much, much, MUCH better than the clothing I used to sew in my twenties! Age does actually bring a certain amount of wisdom. I don’t hate pins, basting or even seam ripping anymore. These things are good and help me achieve a quality product. Now if I could just fit in my quality product!
