I’ve had this dream for a very long time- to be a dealer in vintage, re-purposed and handmade. I’ve given myself every reason in the world why it wasn’t a good idea. I think for much of my adult life it really wasn’t a good idea- not the right time, not the right support system. And yet, it cannot be denied. I can’t imagine reaching the end of my life without having at least attempted it.
Last week as I wiffled and waffled, questioned and pooh-poohed myself for the millionth time, I heard the distinct voice of the Spirit and He said, “This is why I made you this way.” I have a gift for appreciating the humble beauty of old objects and a gift for fashioning things by hand … and there is nothing wrong with that!
I am going to pursue Tender Arts Studio in earnest and with the intention of making it my full-time job in three to five years. I plan to sell my little treasures online and at small fairs or markets until I make enough to rent a booth in an antique mall at which point I will do my level best to fill it, fluff it and earn an income from it! I think I can and for the first time ever, I feel at peace with this decision. It’s not selfish to do what you love, it is your obligation to use the gifts God gave you so you can glorify Him!
I am linking up at Beautifully Rooted.
